Here’s a look at what’s new for 2019.
Smart technology

The area of your home receiving the most attention from smart tech is the kitchen. Whatever can be done to make kitchen life easier is welcome. Refrigerators are receiving embedded tablets for easy food ordering, movie watching, and note-taking. Kitchens are often the hub of your home, and this means refrigerators are an ideal place to operate other smart technology. View and open your front door using a smart camera and smart lock, or operate other home controls such as lighting and heating.
Ovens can now automatically cook food at the temperature you need, and some are self-cleaning. Ovens, as well as dishwashers, coffee makers, and other kitchen appliances, offer smart communications with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit, allowing you to verbally or manually operate your kitchen with a smart device such as your phone or tablet.
Hidden appliances

One trend popping up more in modern design is hidden storage. Though not new, it is now more popular and more advanced. New understandings and engineering techniques are allowing for more creative space-saving storage while hiding away all our devices and appliances. Having clean, less-is-more cabinetry is especially attractive in open floor plans where kitchens become more a part of the architecture, creating less clutter.
Black is back

The biggest new trend in faucets and fixtures is black. And for kitchens, a faucet is just one of many elements receiving darker treatment. Appliances, hardware, wall tiles, cabinetry, hood ranges, and countertops are all adopting this new color, and the ability to mix and match with other colors is endless.
Say goodbye to pure white

One thing shared by minimalists and non-minimalists is a stronger trend toward color, whether it be mild or strong. How color is applied is up to your personal preference. Adding it helps combat the stark feel of white cabinetry. If minimalism is what you prefer, then slight treatments are being added such as natural wood tones and grey counters to add a bit of intrigue and a warmer feel. If strong color is what you crave, then kitchens are being offered in bold colors of blue, green, black, and jeweled colors—all designed to create more visual interest. Mixing in accessories, tile, and pewter pots will create all the rich color you need.
Two-toned cabinetry

Along with new trends in color is more creativity in applying it, and one application seeing increased appeal is two-toned cabinetry. Cabinets are standing out, using contrasting colors more strongly with countertops and the appliances. This celebrates the design of your cabinetry, creating richness and more intrigue.
Backsplashes that stand out

One trend that is gaining momentum is tiled backsplashes. And the tile options are wide-ranging. We have larger patterns with less grout for less cleaning and a more dynamic look, as well as smaller, more Moroccan-style tyling that bring in color and active look to your kitchen. We are also seeing more emphasis on tile extending to the ceiling rather than stopping underneath cabinetry.
Stylish ranges

One area that has become intriguing is the increased focus on range hoods, and not all are made to stand out. A new trend, for the minimalists at heart is a concealed range hoods. Many people find hoods unattractive, making this option ultra-attractive. But then there is the other end of the spectrum. Many people love cooking and want to celebrate it, and a way to showcase your love is in the design of your range hood. A new trend toward more man-made, unique furniture and accessories is also being seen in these hoods, adopting special inlays, gilding, and geometric patterns. Metal, copper, and brushed brass make these hoods stand out and help us feel the warmth.
